What is CrossFit
A Definition of Fitness.
CrossFit athletes aim to show competency and ultimately virtuosity in the 10 general physical skills: Cardiovascular Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance and Accuracy.
“CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program built on constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity” Greg Classman, CrossFit Founder and CEO
Put simply, CrossFit is a training system that prepares you for whatever life throws at you.
Our workouts are short and intense incorporating gymnastics, Olympic Weightlifting, rowing, track, athletics, bodyweight calisthenics and circuit training.
The workouts are never boring, “constantly varied” meaning the body never reaches a plateau of development, constantly challenging the individual to achieve new goals which is very motivating.
Whether you are a firefighter lifting people out of burning buildings or a housewife picking up and carrying a baby, CrossFit will better prepare you for the activities in your day.
The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for the committed individual regardless of experience skill or fitness level.
Therefore, we scale load and intensity; we do not change the program.
CrossFit workouts are traditionally done in group training scenarios in an encouraging motivating environment where your Coach will push you to be the best you can be, and your team mates will rejoice with you as you strive for the goals they too are striving for.
CrossFit is the Sport of Fitness. We claim that the athlete who wins the World Championship of CrossFit held annually in the United States is the Fittest on Earth, as this athlete has the most balanced and skilled mix of the 10 general physical skills mentioned above.
CrossFit is a team sport. Your team mates whom you train with every day will help to push you to be your best. A CrossFit gym is an extremely motivating environment to train in. Not only do the World Championships of CrossFit boast an individual event, but also a team’s event in which any CrossFit gym in the world can enter.
