People are motivated by so many different things (in training) but as soon as it starts to hurt it feels so much easier to stop.
In workouts where there are bigger numbers (eg- 30 burpees, 40 front squats etc) it’s so easy to get caught up in that feeling “oh my god it’s never ending” and that’s where you see the look on people’s faces where they just want to stop an give up.
As a coach I can’t change the way you think BUUUUT I am someone who trains just like you! I might not do the exact same
Workouts and I may be a little fitter or stronger but at the end of the day that feeling of “hurt” Is relative.
No matter how long you have been doing it. I can’t change the way some one thinks, all can do is offer advice and try my hardest to help you get through it….
If you want to get better- fitter or stronger or better at pull ups or toes to bar, HSPU or whatever it is you need to Firstly DO THEM! You don’t get better by running by NOT running….or you don’t get better at pull ups by doing 10/30
With your chin over the bar then 20 half arsed reps….. You need to TRY and WORK HARD!
I was not a natural at all this stuff.
I first started training and could barely run 400m without stopping, couldn’t do a single pull up and couldn’t do a push up on my toes…. I was sooo determined to get better. I didn’t give a shit if I was last finishing a workout (actually that’s a lie, lol I don’t like losing… BUT I knew it was going to make me better in the long run) as long as I knew that I had given it my absolute best and all my reps were the best I had, that’s what mattered to me…
I have worked my arse off to get To the point I am Now…. I’m not expecting everyone to do what I have done and I’m Not at all trying to big note myself, I am just trying to make a point and say that when you tell me something is hard…. I KNOW ITS HARD…. If it was easy, how would it make You better???
Everyone loves that feeling of accomplishment and that feeling when you have nothing left and you know you’ve given it your all…. Or when you pb… Everyone loves a pb…. That just doesn’t come because you’re lucky, it comes because you worked hard for it.
If you work hard and put the effort in, the results you want WILL come I PROMISE you.
I read a quote the other day by some…. “Fitness is a state of mind”. I absolutely Love it. Think about it…. If you tell yourself You’re in a world of pain, you will be in a world of pain…. If you tell yourself you can do it, you will do it…. It’s how you look at it…..
Your 100 percent effort will vary from day to day, hour to hour… But as long as you have given 100 percent for how you’re feeling in that exact moment, that’s all you can do and all we want you to do!
